The Department on Aging Partner to Assist Columbia Senior Citizens

Columbia, SC, December 1, 2020 — Century Glass, a local South Carolina Glass Company, announced they have joined forces with the Department on Aging to assist senior citizens in the Columbia, SC area with broken glass. The Century Glass team is concentrating their efforts with The Department on Aging’s (SCDOA) mission, to enhance the quality of life for seniors in South Carolina by replacing broken glass in home windows for those 60 years of age or older, at no charge.

Randy Wright, Owner of Century Glass said, “during fall 2019 we had the opportunity to assist a Columbia senior who experienced unexpected broken glass in her home. Our team quickly realized the need that seniors in similar situations could use assistance with glass replacements, but can’t afford it…”

Executive Director at Senior Resources, Andrew Boozer, told Century Glass, “often the seniors we serve have less than $40 of disposable income a month and have to defer home repairs like broken glass just to pay the bills. The program by Century Glass is more than just fixing a piece of broken glass, it is giving seniors pride in their homes and improving their daily quality of life.”

Century Glass’ program, Seniors Seeing Clearly, assisted more than 60 seniors during the winter months of 2019. Wright stated that he is excited for the second year of this partnership and is looking forward to assisting another 60 or more seniors this year. This program will be from December 1, 2020 until February 28, 2021.
